Using the newly released Meta Four camera, the production team at LightSail VR, set out to capture the night in 8k stereoscopic at a full 60 fps. This high resolution and frame rate helped allowed us to deliver the best possible experience for the Meta Quest 3 headset. Combined with several 180 stereo cameras and a monoscopic 360 camera mounted on the center broadcast camera, and a camera feed in the hallway, the team led by director Matt Celia captured the entire night of comedy and performances.
As soon as the cameras stopped rolling, post production began. Utilizing team projects in Resolve, the entire post production team got to work. We provided stereoscopic stitching services using Mistka Boutique and Mistika VR to blend the seams and build out patches to clean up rigging.
We were working with tight proximity and had to be very strategic about how we placed our stitches. Additional camera stabilization work in Syntheyes fixed all of the issues with the cameras that had been placed on moving stands. The end results turned out fantastic, the feeling you get from being in the room with such a special audience and cast is a wonderful way to use immersive film. We were honored to have contributed to the documentation of that unique night and giving all audiences the chance to attend.
